You have reached the home page of the American Bunka Embroidery Association ( ABEA), and association of avid Japanese Bunka enthusiasts.
The association is a "not for profit" association designed to promote, teach, and enjoy the art of Japanese Bunka Embroidery,
or "painting with thread".
We collect annual dues ( $20.00 U.S.) so we can mail newsletter and try to keep the membership informed
and interested throughout the year. Some of this money goes towards our annual seminar.
The American Bunka Embroidery Association is made up of chapters in many areas of the
United States of America and Canada. The Chapter president provides a contact point between the local teachers and students and the
Council of Masters and elected officers of the association.
The association gives Bunka stitchers the opportunity to have their
work judged and also to submit their own designs, which can be made into kits and taught, thus promoting and expanding the art.
A
slate of officers is elected once every two years at the annual general meeting at the Summer seminar, in keeping with the bye-laws
of the association. The next election is in the Summer of 2013.
